The problems it solves

Today, your declined card applicants have nowhere to go

  • Customers want a financial product

Customers who are declined for your credit program have signaled they want to go deeper with your brand—today, they have nowhere to go.

  • Two tiers is not enough

Having a credit card tier and a loyalty tier isn’t enough anymore. Customers want a new option.

  • Loyalty should not require borrowing

A credit-led program asks customers to open a lending relationship before they can access card-linked benefits.

Why it pays

Earn a share of interchange on card spend

12.5%

of purchase value was paid with Accrue Cards, generating interchange-share revenue for the brand1

15.3%

of card purchasers made another card purchase over six months3

Common questions

No. The card is debit and spends the customer’s own balance, so there is no credit pull. Customers complete the identity verification required for the card program.

Accrue cards can be used anywhere Visa is accepted in an open-loop scheme, or restricted to a single brand in a closed-loop scheme.

At participating merchants, nothing. The customer taps at the existing terminal as they would with any other card, and the point of sale stays as it is.

Authorization checks the balance in real time, so the decision is made at the moment of the tap rather than reconciled afterward. Spend and authorization controls are configurable per program.

Yes. Programs can support virtual debit cards for online purchases and push provisioning to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet for contactless payments. Physical cards are also supported as an optional program format.

Cross River Bank, Member FDIC, issues the Visa Debit card and retains issuer oversight. Accrue is the card program manager, providing the technology and running day-to-day program operations. Your brand defines the customer experience and the program’s commercial rules within the approved program.
